Meet the Instructors

JIM YOST: Owner and Instructor of Band Instruments/Trumpet

Jim earned his Bachelor of Music in 1988 from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he studied with Marie Speziale. He earned his Master of Music in 1999 from Miami University (Ohio) having studied with Jim Olcott. Jim has taught band, beginning through high school, for the past 20 years. Jim is Minister of Music at Lakota Hills Baptist Church and performs the flugelhorn with the Cincinnati Brass Band.  He is a member of Music Educator’s National Conference (MENC), Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), Association of American Educators (AAE) and the International Trumpet Guild (ITG).

ALEX THIO: Instructor of Piano and Music Theory

Alex graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Grace College, Indiana and a Master of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He continued with his doctoral studies in Piano Performance at the Conservatory and is in the process of completing the degree. A native of Singapore, Alex continues to instruct piano students in the Cincinnati area. He is also the choral accompanist for the Sycamore Junior High and High School choirs. He is an active instrumental accompanist as well as an adjudicator for piano competitions by the American Guild of Music. He is a Founding Teacher of the National Music Certification Program.
